Anderson .Paak & The Free National's
Ronnie Scott's Member's only performance

The theme was to create a Classic R&B Soul insipred tyopgraphic poster for Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals
This was a more theatrical approach to the idea of an exclusive theatrical performance

feedback was to create something less animated and incorporate tha classic theme more so

They gravitated to this iteration. It included the cinematic aspect of the prompt in a way that the client was content with.

FINAL DESIGN
The final iteration was used after support acts and a matinee show was added in a layout that the client was content with.
DRAFT 1
The client had given freedom to explore the style of the artwork how I envisioned his brand as an artist. In this particular project he informed me that he was trying to pivot his brand to having a more traditional Afrobeat artist as opposed to an afrofusion or Alté artist. I wanted to showcase the idea of a metamorphasis for him as an artist but as a Son of the Sun, I didn't want the cover to look like a fall from grace but a change or growth that resembled an ascension if you look at the artwork clearer.
The Client's management team chose Option 4. No alterations aside from changing "Son of a Sun" to "Son of THE Son" was made.

The final draft included production credits and the client management requested for the artist's face to be illuminated slightly more without distracting from the silhouette theme.

The tracklist was supplied with the seated stusio press shot of the artist. It was a lot harder to create a cohesive cover with this art.
PROBLEM: The lighting of the image was different to the first image because the artists skin was not illuminated like the first shot, the seated position also implied he would be restricted to the bottom of the frame unless he was elevated on something.
I took inspiration from the grammy award winning Burna Boy album's cover, Twice as Tall. I wanted to incorporate Sunny in the Lagos Cityscape as a figure of magnitude.
The reference for the Son of the Son Cover Art was the concept of the artist SUNNYNINE falling from the sky with the Sun incorporated in the artwork.
CASE STUDY 003 :
Marwan Pablo 2024 UK/Europe Tour

This first version I wanted to create a version that included the overlapping artist and logo with the dates in a similar way to the Odeal artwork.

I created an alternative version that also highlighted Marwan's brand and logo with the color way that the photoshoot brought

For the London only show artwork the client suggested using another press shot

This work on Odeal's 2024 tour was seen by the Middle Eastern Branch of Live Nation and requested for me to create something that has a similar aesthetic for Marwan Pablo

This was the layout for the Full EU/UK Tour where adjustments had to be made to the header in order to accommodate the additional dates

The final version included the support act on the UK tour Marketing Material Poster.

Closer to the date the client wanted to refresh the artwork by bringing back the red press shot whilst combining the assets from draft 2's design.
